Sarah Tooke is a CSEP certified personal trainer with 14 years of experience and success in helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. She was born and raised in Amherst, Nova Scotia and credits her small town values and upbringing for helping shape her into the hard working, caring, fun loving and easy going individual she is today.
Her passion for fitness began 25 years ago. It wasn't through traditional sports though as there was limited opportunities in her small town community. She was initially introduced to health and fitness through the air cadet program. She joined at the age of 12 and was a member for 6 years. She spent numerous, entire summers on various Canadian Force Bases across Canada attending camps specifically on health and fitness which led to her becoming in charge of administering her home squadron's fitness testing and leading their sports nights and sports meets with other squadrons.
Afterwards, as a young adult without a lot of career opportunities, she decided to move out west to start a new life. Shortly after that, her passion for health and fitness was re-ignited when she starting working out at the gym. She loved how it made her look and feel and it gave her a confidence and strength she had never experienced before. It led to her enrolling at Red Deer College in 2006 so that she could could help others reap the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle too. At RDC she received a Health and Fitness Promotion Diploma and her CSEP CPT certification. She also received her AFLCA group fitness instructor certification. Since then she has continued to expand her knowledge and has grown to become one of Calgary's best personal trainers. Additional certifications she has taken include Precision nutrition level 1 and Titleist Performance Institute level 3 fitness professional. When not training clients Sarah enjoys a wide variety of activities including golfing, hiking, indoor rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, cross country skiing ,skiing, swimming, surfing and indoor skydiving.
Sarah believes exercising and going to the gym is about so much more than just looking good. Chiseled abs and bulging biceps are great but will come and go. A more important reason for staying fit is to have the physical freedom to handle the physical demands of your daily life, manage any unexpected physical tasks that come up, and participate in the physical activities you enjoy. In other words, continue to be able to live your life and even make your entire life easier!
Sarah doesn't believe in cookie cutter programs or gravitate towards one specific style of training. She designs unique fitness programs that are specific for her clients' individual goals, needs and abilities. She also understands that sedentary lifestyles can cause muscle imbalances and dysfunctional movement patterns so incorporates mobility work and isolation exercises that will address these issues before it leads to pain or injuries.
Sarah puts as much emphasis on the importance of exercising as she does on creating healthy lifestyle habits outside of the gym. She will work with you on how to make better and more informed nutritional choices, help you incorporate more active living into your schedule and teach you techniques to help lower your stress levels.
What make Sarah one of Calgary's best personal trainers is the amount of personal attention she devotes to each and every one of her clients as well as her passionate for expanding her knowledge on human anatomy and physiology.
